TRAMPING

Situated in Galatea the gateway to Te Urewera the Old Shearers' Quarters accommodation is perfect for a tramping break. Te Urewera hosts one of New Zealands Great Walks -Lake Waikaremoana in the southern area of the park. There are also shorter walks available in the Lake Waikaremoana area. Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tane Conservation Park has a range of walks from 1hr to 2-5 days. Rainbow Mountain-Summit Track on the way to Rotorua gives a fantastic view over the whole area.
